Today, more than half the globe uses social media. A presence on their chosen networks is essential for businesses, both large and small. However, this can be a challenging prospect.
When they make the leap and invest time and energy in social media, businesses soon discover limitations. Without a defined strategy, and knowledge of each network, a return on investment (ROI) can be elusive.
Angela Booth is a huge fan of social media marketing (SMM); she created her Twitter profile (@angee) in 2007. She says: “If you ever think that no one is paying attention to you on social media, try making a horrendous mistake. That boo-boo will go viral, faster than you can imagine.”
Billions of people are paying attention. Angela says that although businesses can build their social media presence in many ways, they tend to be expensive. A business may not have the staff to manage their SMM efforts. Hiring an agency makes sense, even though it’s expensive.
Smaller companies can’t afford a marketing agency. Angela believes that these companies can discover how to use SMM effectively. She says: “After training, most small businesses can manage their SMM in less than 15 minutes a day. Training is an investment in their business.”
Training in SMM has many benefits, not least that a business can grow and use social media organically, investing little more than time and enthusiasm.
Many businesses have found that SMM is their best marketing resource. Not only can they respond to customers quickly, they learn what their customers want.
