It’s almost NaNoWriMo time. I’ve received some questions about plotting a novel and whether I’d consider an offering for our plotting program.
Does plotting make you nervous? Plotting can be a challenge if you dislike the process.
Plotting a novel when you dislike plotting
These days I love plotting, but that wasn’t always the case. I dreaded it for years; plotting never came naturally. Worse: I feared that trying too hard to build a plot would kill my interest in the novel.
I knew it would be worth it to overcome my passionate dislike of plotting: I wanted to learn how to plot. Pantsing wastes a lot of time. You do more writing than you need to do; meeting deadlines is a challenge.
Then there’s the constant doubt. When you’re uncertain of your plotting skills, you doubt not only yourself, but also your novel. You second-guess yourself. The danger is that you’ll “fix” things that don’t need fixing.
It took me years, but finally I developed a plotting program which helped me, and now helps my students.
Want to confidently plot your novel in an hour?
Plot your NaNoWriMo novel in an hour
Nervous about pantsing your novel? (“Pantsing”: writing by the seat of your pants; winging it.)
When I received requests for an offering on our plotting program in time for NaNoWriMo, I agreed.
Whether you’re doing NaNoWriMo or not, you need plotting skills. Want to write a page-turner? Commercial Fiction Secrets: Plot Your Novel In 60 Minutes Or Less will help. It’s suitable for people who enjoy plotting as well as for pantsers.
What if plotting a novel took you an hour or less?
In Commercial Fiction Secrets: Plot Your Novel In 60 Minutes Or Less you’ll discover organic plotting: your plot grows while you’re writing.
If you’re a pantser, you don’t need to worry that intensive plotting will kill your inspiration. And if you’re someone who adores plotting, you can plot as you go and have more time to spend writing.
Enjoy NaNoWriMo if you’re enrolling this year. 🙂
